Soider works on your device. There are no accounts, no ads, no tracking, and no server of ours that holds your data.

What the app keeps on your device

  • QR / barcode scan history
  • Tool results, such as Speed Test, My IP, DNS, Ping, Port Scan, Traceroute, LAN devices, LAN Speed, NTP Check, SNMP, Whois and API Client
  • Recent searches, such as domains, hosts and URLs
  • What you save: API Client requests and environments (which may hold tokens or passwords), Wake-on-LAN devices, domains tracked for certificate expiry, Multi-Ping hosts, LAN device nicknames, your own DNS and NTP servers, QR styles and logos
  • Favorite tools, language, theme and settings

You can stop keeping history or recent searches in Settings › History.

The app doesn't store your name, accounts, location or contacts.

How it's protected

Everything in the app is encrypted (AES-256 and an encrypted database) with a key kept only in this device's Keychain. That key isn't synced to iCloud.

WiFi passwords from QR codes are never saved. Text and passwords used in Encrypt, Password Generator and Email Header Analyzer are not stored.

The app never sends your data to the developer.

Backups

  • Automatic backup (Soider Pro): encrypted copies are kept in your own iCloud Drive (Files › iCloud Drive › Soider) and on this device. They never go through Soider's servers and the developer can't access them. Kept for 30 days; turn it off in Settings › Backup & transfer.
  • The key for automatic backups is kept in your iCloud Keychain, so devices on the same Apple Account can open them. If you set a recovery password, the key locked with it is stored in the backups too.
  • .soider files you make yourself are locked with a password you choose and stay wherever you save or share them.
  • Some settings of the device, such as switching history off, are not included in backups.

Network connections

Nothing is sent to the developer's servers. Every outside connection is listed here.

Automatically while the app is open:

  • Checking that the internet is reachable, when the app opens and when the network changes: a brief connection to 1.1.1.1 (Cloudflare) and 8.8.8.8 (Google) on port 443; no data is sent
  • The status card on Home: response time of 1.1.1.1, and your public IP from speed.cloudflare.com
  • App Store: to check Soider Pro and load prices
  • iCloud: automatic backup (Soider Pro, when on)

When you use a tool:

  • DNS Lookup: your network's DNS, or Cloudflare (cloudflare-dns.com) / Google (dns.google) if you choose them; comparing servers asks Cloudflare, Google, Quad9, OpenDNS, AdGuard and any you add
  • Email Domain Checker: cloudflare-dns.com
  • Speed Test and My IP: speed.cloudflare.com
  • Network Diagnose: your router, your network's DNS, 1.1.1.1 and speed.cloudflare.com
  • Whois: whois.iana.org, then the Whois server of that domain's registry
  • NTP Check: the time server you pick, such as time.apple.com, time.google.com, pool.ntp.org, time.cloudflare.com, th.pool.ntp.org, time.navy.mi.th or your own
  • Ping, Multi-Ping, Traceroute, Port Scan, SSL Checker, certificate expiry tracker, Website Checker, SNMP and API Client: only the destination you enter
  • LAN devices, Bonjour and Wake-on-LAN: only the home or office network you're on
  • LAN Speed: the device or iperf3 server on your LAN that you choose; it opens a port on your local network only while you're waiting for a test

When you open something yourself:

  • Links from QR codes, the subscription page (apps.apple.com), the website and contact email open in the device's browser or mail app

All other tools work entirely on the device.

Permissions

  • Camera: to scan QR codes and barcodes; images are not saved
  • Local network: for LAN tools such as Ping, Port Scan, LAN devices, Bonjour and LAN Speed
  • Add to Photos: only when you save a result image; the app can't see your existing photos
  • Notifications: when you turn on certificate expiry reminders; they are scheduled on the device, not sent from a server

Picking a photo (for example a QR logo) needs no permission; the app only sees the photo you pick.

Permissions are asked on first use and can be changed in the device settings.

Deleting your data

  • Clear history and recent searches, or reset the app, in Settings › History and Settings › Reset app.
  • Delete backups on the backup screen, or in the device's Settings › your name › iCloud › Manage Storage › Soider.
  • Deleting the app removes its data, but backups in iCloud and a few small items in the Keychain (Pro free-try counts, the device id and keys for backups) remain, so you can restore and free tries don't start over.

Buying Soider Pro

Payment is handled entirely by Apple. The app never sees your card or account details. It keeps only the plan you bought and when it ends (encrypted) on this device, and checks with the App Store when it opens.

How many free tries of Pro features you've used, and the latest time the app has seen, are kept in the device Keychain, so free tries don't start over when the app is reinstalled or the date is changed.
